Originally credentialed to teach high school English, Tandy
shifted paths after the birth of her son in the 70’s. She trained as
a childbirth and parent educator and began teaching prenatal
and parenting classes in Los Angeles. Her continuing education
included an RN license (Mount St. Mary’s College School of
Nursing) and an MPH in Maternal/Child Health (UCLA Graduate
  School of Public Health).
She has taught in many settings throughout the years including
Santa Monica – UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica Community
College, UCLA Extension, Department of Health Sciences and her
own private practice now located in Santa Monica.
In the past fifteen years her interest has focused on integrating
her understanding of child development and parenting with the
fields of neuroscience and of mindfulness research and practice.
Some significant learning experiences during this time have been
seven years of study with Daniel Siegel, MD,  (Interpersonal
Neurobiology);  teacher training with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki
Santorelli (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction); and Susan Kaiser
  Greenland (Inner Kids training).
